Four weeks. [09 Apr 2004|11:06am] [ mood | annoyed ] It took four weeks for those strings to break. Oyaji won't buy anymore since they're so expensive. Had to cut off the tied part because it was really useless. Looks like it's Akuma's new favorite snack. >_> I've given up on trying to help that monster find a better diet. Serve?

I don't know why he was telling me about it, but the top of his frame split and the strings are loosening out. As hard as he swings, he shouldn't be able to hit hard enough to break a racket. Says it fell down the stairs, but he wouldn't tell me why. He doesn't have money for a new one and he needs to fix it before tomorrow [for his match against Horio]. Not even duct tape can fix a break like that. I wonder how he's going to play. Had to leave him after awhile or the shop would have closed. The shop ran out of Gamma Synthetic Gut 16 so I had to buy Tecnifibre E-Matrix 17, which was a bit too expensive for strings. The name makes it sound technical, but the thickness of the string doesn't seem to be that strong. I think they might break after a couple games. I should test them out in my match against Oyaji tonight. Serve?

White Day [15 Mar 2004|07:42pm] [ music | W-inds - Thank You ] Yesterday the first time I really celebrated White Day since I was in the US for a while and they don't have that holiday. I had to wait and meet up with Shinji after his modeling interview. ..So on White Day you're supposed wear white? I didn't know about that, but Shinji was in white leather pants. They looked a little tight on him, I could see that he was uncomfortable. Chocolate has sugar, and I didn't want another one of 'those' episodes so I opted to make up for the the sweets with a gift of griptape and new wristbands. Serve?

[06 Mar 2004|05:01pm] [ mood | lethargic ] Karupin just took a nap and I don't want to wake him just to play. Broke the strings on two of my rackets. I should to restring them now, but the shop's closed for another week. The guy who runs it went on vacation or something. The third one has deep grooves and I guess I should only use it lightly. Not much to do around here and I've played my games until my thumbs hurt. The latest tennis magazine hasn't come in yet and the only thing I have left to do is homework. And I know I can't do that until the class before it's due. Serve?

I've just been working on serves and hitting at the automated cages. Not good for real practice. Momo-sempai's been spending his time with Kaidou and Oyaji is piled with chores that I'm less than enthusiastic to help with--so I don't. I should go on a run before Nanako finds me at home and tries to make me help around the house. I wonder where Shinji is.. 15 Aces | Serve?

[29 Jan 2004|07:10pm] Horio came over today to show me his new racket. Light titanium. Good for full-swings and it has a large sweet spot, perfect for volleys. The paint is a shock of neon orange and neon green.. which suits him, I guess. Akuma doesn't seem to take a liking to him, either. Especially when Horio insisted that he pet my cat. Big mistake. We were going to go hit, but it started pouring and he winded up staying for awhile. ¬¬ Oyaji and Nanako 'suggested' that I take my guest into my room instead of letting him stay in out living room. Even the rain can't drown out his voice -_-' I finished reading my magazine before I came here to type this. >>; He's still talking behind me, but as long as he can hear his own voice, he won't stop. I didn't tell anyone about the avalanche accident up in the mountains, so I guess they assumed all went well, even though I never got to use the tennis courts. Weather's letting up.. need to show my guest out.. Serve?

It didn't help that this started because I was caught in that avalanche with someone(s) that nearly provoked another one. Eventually Aoi and Shinji found us, somehow. I didn't know anybody was even looking. And Aoi returned my bag. Reentering the warm lodge after burned my skin after my body had been accustommed to the outside temprature... ..I still haven't found the courts >_> Serve?

[13 Jan 2004|05:28am] [ mood | determined ] It's really early, but the sun is already coming out. So high up.. it was hard to breathe, but I've gotten used to it. Some people got winded climbing the stairs on their first few trips. Altitude sickness or something. It looks like everyone's having busy. The more people go outside, the less people crowd the lodge. 5:26am now.. should I wake up Shinji? ... No.. too early still.. ... ..There are courts here? Serve?

Camp all over again.. in the cold. The temprature here wouldn't be good for him, anyway. We got assigned roomates again. Not four like the last time, just two of us. I brought my racket and some extra tennis balls, because the whole tennis team was invited, but I haven't seen any courts on the way up here. Just.. snow. And the lodge. Where do we go to practice? Christmas didn't kill me [25 Dec 2003|02:19pm] [ music | Janne Da Arc - Psycho Dance ] My cold cleared up in time for the celebrations taking place. I still didn't have much time to shop for anything. Had to call America two days in a row for my birthday and christmas 'talk' exchanges. It's more of a question and answer sequence where the same questions are asked in hopes of different answers. There was lump of coal in my stocking (>_> where did that come from? I didn't even hang one up) As there is every year. I suspect it's oyaji's doing, as usual. Gifts were present, and the coal was thrown into the fire after oyaji's teasing. Do those jokes never get old? Karupin and Akuma were dressed up like elves. Akuma looked halfway innocent and sort of cute. Until it ate the suit. >_>;; I think it has a serious eating disorder. I hope that trait didn't get passed on to it's offspring. Surprisingly, it's still alive. 4 Aces | Serve?

I stayed home. If I stayed home, I did not see Fuji-otouto on my way from the the stringing shop because I did not go to it. Dark shadows from America do not haunt me. ..Thanksgiving.. [27 Nov 2003|06:36pm] [ music | Motoko Kumai - Ki Ni Naru Aitsu ] ..Means long distance-calling family halfway across the world to tell them that you're thankful for them (or something to that effect ¬¬).. Even though you don't really remember them, save for reading their names when they sent a christmas/birthday present my way. ¬¬ Thanks. Kaasan insists that we celebrate Thanksgiving dinner, (even though it's only supposed to be an American tradition--and the last time I checked, we're in Japan) which followed the customary match by the temple. Nanako prepared turkey, ham and shrimp and almost didn't let anyone leave the table until all of the food was gone. o_o Akuma showed up tonight, obviously attracted to the meal. I don't know how people would react to kittens for Christmas presents, Taichi. Kaidou-senpai..cats. I've never seen him around a cat to know if he likes them.. Horio, Mizuno and Kachiro started talking about Momochan-senpai and Kaidou-senpai today.. That's one thing I actually listened in on. Hm. 17 Aces | Serve?

[25 Nov 2003|10:40am] [ mood | complacent ] [ music | Bad Luck - Blind Game Again ] The days have been going by slowly, everything's always so routine. Maybe it's the winter season. Longer days aren't just my imagination. Weekdays, I have school and tennis with frequent naps inbetween. Especially in English. Lunchtime is always spent with Horio, who always talks about that cheerleader girl that the Ryuzaki's granddaughter is always with. Or at least that's what I think he talks about. <_< I never really listen. After Oyaji is through with his important monk duties (whatever those are ¬¬) we play a match by the temple before dinner. He bought me Mario Tennis to fill up my time while he works or teaches Taichi his definition of the conduct and interests on a man. Mario Tennis. Nothing realistic. In the opening scene the net is missing and the court is impossibly long. There's a doubles feature, which provides poor replication to training with a partner. It's almost impossible to double fault in this game and your shots are limited to topsin and slice. None of the charaters are rounded, all having only one specialty and obviously nothing else. ..Nanako wants me to help with chores. ¬¬ I'm going for a run. Maybe some tennis at the public courts, if anyone's there. Or just independent practice. Serve?

[08 Nov 2003|01:31pm] I'm beginning to like Harry Potter less.. Although, I don't think I've ever really liked it to begin with. Nanako, on the other hand is an avid fanatic. Ever since we went shopping for that Harry Potter costume (3 hours to find the 'perfect' shoes --black dress shoes with silver buckles (I thought only Pilgrims wore those ¬¬)-- and 5 hours to realize that no store-bought Gryfindor badge was 'authentic enough' for her..) She lectures me on the history of the books.. honestly.. ¬¬ The locker rooms aren't locked dring practice, are they? I think they should be; anyone could enter and leave as they please.. 1 Ace | Serve?
